Save file location

Steam's save data is in userdata/your-user-id/2054970/remote/win64_save, not the game installation folder. Back up the whole remote folder before modding. The 2 September 2026 update supports three adventure slots, each with three save types.

Steam on Windows

The DD2gether author's installation guide identifies Steam/userdata/your-user-id/2054970/remote/win64_save as the single-player save directory. Replace the Steam path and user ID with your installation's values. Copying the enclosing remote folder preserves the save set rather than just one guessed file.

CAPCOM's 2 September log distinguishes three character/adventure slots from three save types inside each slot: Autosave, Interim Save and Last Inn Rest Save. Loading an inn rest no longer deletes the other two types. Do not apply old launch-version advice claiming there is only one slot.

On PS5/PS5 Pro, the 7 September patch fixes selection of the latest save and timestamps after TU3.2 or cloud loading. Existing displayed times may remain inaccurate until the relevant save type is created again. The 16 October patch also fixes Times Fallen data being carried between slots.

Save folder versus compatibility prefix

PlatformPath
Steam, Windows<Steam>/userdata/<user-id>/2054970/remote/win64_save/
Linux or ProtonSaves remain under Steam userdata. steamapps/compatdata/2054970/pfx/ is the Proton Windows prefix, not the Steam Cloud save folder.
Settingsconfig.ini in the game install folder

PS5 and Xbox use their platform save-management systems, not this Windows path. A config.ini settings backup does not back up a character.

Questions

Where is the Steam save?

Under Steam/userdata/your-user-id/2054970/remote/win64_save/. Back up the entire enclosing remote folder.

Does Steam Cloud copy it?

Yes, Steam lists Cloud support. Copy a backup first and temporarily disable sync for an intentional restore; otherwise a newer cloud copy may conflict with the restored local data.
