For progression, collect Courtly clothing for the masquerade and the Marcher's set for a soldier disguise. For combat, compare vocation eligibility, defensive stats, resistances, and weight in the current equipment screen.

Compare armor by slot and vocation
The equipment categories are head, body, legs, and cloaks. Most combat pieces have vocation restrictions; formal clothing and the Marcher pieces are broadly usable exceptions. Check the icon restrictions instead of buying an outfit based solely on appearance.
Defense, Magick Defense, knockdown resistance, debilitations, and weight all affect the decision. Enhancement styles can produce different results on the same base piece, so use the shop preview to compare like with like.
